When did you join the Aktis Group?

Glenview ITC Plaza Chongqing Hotel began its life as one of Aktis Group’s first investments in Western China, in 2006.

I joined Glenview Hotel in June 2007. During my seven-year tenure, I have worked my way up through the ranks, holding positions of Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Deputy General Manager, and finally General Manager. 

What attracted you to the hotel industry?
 
I chose to be part of the hotel industry for more than 20 years. A good hotel treats its employees like family, and culturally, the working environment can provide people with a warm home, which made me feel very happy to work here. The hotel industry as a service industry and the major hotel service concept are in fact very similar. One of the most important reasons I was willing to stay in the Glenview family was a systematic career plan for the employees, whose career advancement is solely based on performance instead of relationship. 
 

During your time at Glenview Hotel, who has influenced your work philosophy?

Before I became the General Manager, my mentor was Mr. Liao Yong, President of Glenview. He led the team and created the company culture. He taught me many ways to tackle problems and was willing to share his wealth of experience in hotel management. This was a great help to my personal growth.

In addition, I would like to thank the Chinese and foreign owners, who have given the hotel management team great support and help. Especially, after I became General Manager of the hotel, the partners of the Aktis Hanxi Group often helped, inspired and supported me to successfully carry out hotel operations and management work.

What is the key to success?
 
The hotel has a very stable and excellent management team, without “politics” between staff members. We care for and trust each other in critical times. We work together only for the same goal, which is to support and help each other in our work so as to improve the quality of service and business performance.
 

What distinguishes Glenview from other hotel brands?

Although Glenview is a new brand in the hotel industry with fewer hotels than the well-known international brands, our hotel has been in business for seven years. The whole management team places a special emphasis on the quality of service that allows us to compete with international brands. 

What have been your proudest achievements during your time at Glenview?
 
Since 2012, the Glenview Hotel has won the Excellence Award for three consecutive years, as voted by online users of TripAdvisor’s Chinese website. China's largest online assessment website, Ctrip, consistently ranks Glenview Hotel highly, and awarded us the 2014 Ctrip Top Hotel Award. 
 
I am proud that, despite the challenging environment and overall business decline faced by the hotel industry since 2013 through to the first half of 2014, the concerted efforts of Glenview management team has led to an increase in business.
 
I believe that Glenview Hotel is one of the industry’s dark horses, and we remain proud that we can surpass the service quality of international brand hotels!
